Thanks for the tip.

I also suggest to every living Non-millionaire American that you plant your gardens this year not only for the joy of gardening, but for clean and healthy food, and also for security and to save money.I am tearing up my lawn and putting the land to use to pay and buy me security from famine. Lawns eat your time and money. Gardens save money and give you healthy food.

Now is a great time to start. If you don't have land, just buy a few potted tomato plants and stock up on canned goods. It is becoming reality that more and more Americans will go hungry this year despite living in the (once) wealthiest nation on earth with the world's breadbasket of croplands. It only works if the economy and infrastructure work to keep goods and services flowing.

America is going down for the count because cowardly Democrats and evil Republicans could not care less how the public suffers. Food safety has been gone for a long while. Food security is now going as the dollar plummets and worldwide food demand increases driving up costs sometimes 40%+

Don't rely on the government to insure food supplies. This government does not and will not protect or act in the public interest. Rely on yourself and encourage everyone you know to plant their own gardens.

Does anyone know how to tell if the seeds they are buying for vegetables are GM? Thanks.

I agree about the planting of gardens in the 4-23-08 article but the follow-up question about how to tell if seeds are "GM" puzzled me?

Is the writer asking whether the seeds are organic, perhaps?

go to Johnny's Select Seeds Company in Maine for organic seeds.

GM seeds are not organic, they are 'genetically modified'. This would include seeds that are disease resistant and/or hybrid. Hybrids do not reproduce. Plant your gardens with non-hybrid seeds, save and dry this years seeds for next years crops. Do not depend on government for either your food or your seeds. Heirloom seeds will grow true. Government does not want you to have heirlooms, as then you might be able to feed yourself.

I remember growing up, my mother would have seeds stored that she grew herself. She would plan seed, grow crops just to harvest the seeds. She would jar them. She started doing it as she saw the seed catalogs selling more and more GM seeds, rather than the read deal. I thought she was crazy, now I am not so sure.
