I blame the Hamiltonians, and intellectual heirs of Alexander Hamilton, for the monstrous public sector debt burden in the United States. Trade is a side issue and a scapegoat for an economy crippled by an inflationary monetary system, needless and costly regulations, and government largesse.

....quite similar to that of other nations. Around 60% of GNP. Some nations like Japan is worse,around 150%.

The institutions of the United States is generally sound!

However, the debts look menacingly big due to the size of the Amerikan economy!
