Make a list of perishable food in the fridge so nothing goes to waste. If you don't study coupons and sales you are losing a lot of money.

You are dead on about "penny pinching". too many peaople today seem to think they are "above" being frugal, or at very least careful of the monsey they spend on food and other household items.

A lot can be learned by reading books on the Great Depression that tell of day to day life (and their money saving tricks...). I am not suggesting we are headed for another depression, rather if you do not understand history and learn from it then you are doomed to repeat it.

I agree. We have an old style outdoor grill. It is fireplace style and made of stones and mortar. We collect old oak stacking pallets from behind stores, cut them up and use them for free fuel to cook out. This happens five times a week. The left-overs, are re-heated in the microwave and consumed for lunch. We turn the thermostat on our water heater down to 100 degrees during the day, then turn it back up to 125 just before shower time. At night, we crank it back down. There is no reason to have 125 degree water sitting in a tank all day.
