With each passing day, the solutions required to save the American industry become more drastic. The hole that we are digging ourselves into gets deeper. I do not think that most Americans will EVER figure out that the FARCE called "free trade" has buried the American industry and America. We no longer own our country. I am reminded of the saying: "Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen and some people will wonder what happened." Another quote that I am reminded of comes from the historical-fiction movie Gettysburg. General Lee was asked by one of his generals to just give him one or two more days to take a hill that would be critically strategic to Lee's attack at Gettysburg. Lee's response was "General, we have no more time." Some more thoughts. Some time ago I was in downtown Seattle in front of City Hall protesting our mayor's plan to replace a viaduct going along Seattle's waterfront with a tunnel that would cost several billion dollars more. As I was holding up a sign I got into a discussion with another member of the group. We got on the issue of the trade deficit. I mentioned to her that she was watching it drive by. At which point she no longer wanted to talk about her objection to the massive trade deficits. I think she owns a foreign car. Talk is cheap. A little later at the athletic club that I am a member of, I got into a talk with a member in the men's locker room lounge. I told him what I thought of foreign produced products. He said that he owns a Lexus because they are better built cars. I said, "So what?" I don't care if foreign cars (products) are better and cost less. I don't think that he got the point. Americans don't get it! They believe that the evening TV news and the commentators are reality. If I sound like I am an upset American. So be it. My country is going (gone?) under.
