Gas scales new high

Retail gas prices in the U.S. also rose to another record high Thursday. The national average price for a gallon of gas edged eight-tenths of a cent higher to $4.060, according to a survey by motorist group AAA.

Gas prices are now $4 or higher in 25 states and the District of Columbia, according to the group.

California has the highest gas prices at $4.257 a gallon, followed by Alaska at $4.403 and Connecticut at $4.362. The lowest gas prices can be found in Missouri, where a gallon of gas costs $3.848 on average.
