Airbus Deal Must Be Stopped

Published 05/01/08 Thomas Heffner - Print Article

Our Superior Air Industry Shot Down By Our Own Leaders

Let’s take a hard look at what is happening to America, our country.

We are losing control of our industries to overseas powers. Congress and the president no longer represent their constituents or the will of the majority of Americans.

Our very economic system is now dependent on foreign financed debts, and imports. The influence of powerful foreign lobby interests on our aloof political leaders is undermining our capabilities and causing our formerly vaunted industrial infrastructure to collapse.

The Air Force-Airbus deal is the latest slap in the face in the long line of recent slaps to the face to our country. Awarding of a $40 billion air defense contract to European Airbus should not under any circumstance even be considered: it puts elements of our nation’s defense under the control of foreign politicians. It is extremely dangerous and must be stopped.

The aerospace industry is the one industry where we still excel. If our government won’t let Americans make airplanes for our own Air Force, how can we expect any other country to buy airplanes from us? It is bad for business, bad for industry and bad for the security of our country.

The deal makes one truth perfectly clear: our leaders are currently more interested in supporting overseas industries rather than fostering growth and protecting our vital industries here at home. If an enemy infiltrated our government they couldn’t do a better job to destroy us than our leaders are currently doing right now with their damaging policies.

We should all be outraged at the government and lobbyists who are involved in the destruction of our airplane industry, rising debts, an overdependence on imports, and, as a consequence, the subversion of American power. These leaders must be replaced immediately!

Send this message loud and clear to your political leaders, newspapers and everyone you know. Ask them to join you in voicing your outrage of the disgraceful awarding of this contract to Airbus. The time is now to take action to circumvent the destructive policies of our government- for ourselves and for the future of our country.

Hey,

If you don't love this country, leave it. This is capitalism. Labor and goods that are the cheapest are usually the best. This is just another core belief of short term thinking by American indutrialists. We saw this in the auto industry for decades. Now Toyota has beat out GM. Toyota was tough, smart, efficient, and builds high quality vhicles. American SUV's get mileage in the 12-18 MPG range. Essentially no improvement since 1978. We used to own American cars, but after all the rust out problems, infamous Chevy 1980 350 cid diesel and overall poor quality, we decided not to reinforce mediocrity.

Obviously when it comes to aerospace, the French are able to do the job better and than the Americans so why complain?

Instead, Americans need to become more knowledgabe and more efficient if they want long term sustainable growth and progress.

The American aerospace industry made a conscious choice. It chose to cut R&D for years to make short term quarterly profits and growth and overpay its CEOS. Now, if they are behind in technology and efficiency, they have to live with that.
This is capitalism. Learn the rules. Those who want America to become a 3rd world country like Mexico are the ones in power making the same short term decisions for our nation today.
Evecting the same people and same parties to office come November guarantees more of the same.
