Good Jobs for College Grads Are Leaving America

Good jobs in America are disappearing for just about everyone, including recent college graduates. The following is from Eagle Forum.org:

College not necessary for Many New Careers
By Phyllis Schlafly

“U.S. News & World Report, which has made a name for itself by ranking and announcing the Best Colleges every year, is now ranking and listing the Best Careers for young people. A comparison of the latest lists shows a shocking disconnect and makes for dispiriting holiday reading.

While the price of a college education has skyrocketed far faster than inflation, many careers for which colleges prepare their graduates are disappearing. U.S. News' Best Careers guide concludes that "college grads might want to consider blue-collar careers" because B.A. diploma holders "are having trouble finding jobs that require college-graduate skills."

Incredibly, U.S. News is telling college graduates to look for jobs that do not require a college diploma. Among the 31 best opportunities for 2008 are the careers of firefighter, hairstylist, cosmetologist, locksmith, and security system technician.

Where did the higher-skill jobs go? Both large and small companies are "quietly increasing offshoring efforts."

Stupid America and UK are the nations lade by blind so called economic advisers. One shoudn't have to be an economist to see where US short termism i.e. closing down its manufacturing, and computer products and shifting to so called cheap labor:- clearly followed by massive closing down at home and massive importation foreign manufactured goods including oil. What do you expect? In a country ruled by right wing conservative religious fanatics like America, where the president of the country is the stupidest being on this planet.

What do you expect. No long term vision for America! Even if USA survive the present danger, it is blunt obvious you have sold all your strength to the so called 3rd world country. In feature you have to beg for bread or investment as British Priminister did 2 weeks ago. Begging China to invest in Britain while closing down the British industry??? Is this Oxford economics???

Does still fat Americans cry for tax cut?

Bless u you stupid people - What do I expect from cow boy economist!!!

Right now, we've got college grads who are flipping burgers or greeting cutomers at WalMart for a living because the jobs they'd trained for were eliminated, shipped overseas, or given to foreign guest workers willing to do the same jobs for a fraction of what Americans can afford to live on.
What's the point of even going to college, of going thri all that time trouble, money, and effort, usually running up thousands of dollars worth of loans in the process, if the only jobs that will be available when they graduate are ones that anyone with a 6th or 8th grade education, certainly anyone with only a high school education, can easily do?

Any way you cut it, relegating educated, skilled people to unskilled manual labor jobs is a waste of resources. What kind of motivational message does that send today's youth? "Study hard, get good grades, and graduate, and maybe someday you'll get to flip burgers or stock shelves at WalMart too"? This may be part of why the dropout rate is so high- I mean why should kids even bother with education when the jobs being created don't require it?

I'm afraid if this continues, it may well end up where about the only "jobs" available to most American-born citizens who aren't well-connected, other than the military, will be as drug traffickers, car thieves, identity thieves, con artists, armed robbers, muggers, burglars, pimps, and prostitutes.

Probably the wisest thing that well educated workers should be doing is to leave the USA for Europe of Canada.

America has become essentially unfair and unfriendly towards its own people as it welcomes job stealing illegals and send the rest of the good jobs overseas.
The best and the brightest are no longer rewarded but punished for living in the USA.

Just as most of the well educated classes in Iraq fled to other nations to escape the downfall, so too, is it time for the smart to seek greener pastures.
America has become essentially in its political operating nature, therefore, there is no reasonable hope for meaningful change in the coming years.
The solution is not wasting time and effort trying to fix a broken and belligerent nation, but getting out of its path as it self destructs.

Is for every college grad there are one or two parents that work for the same companies that are selling out their children! And for every 3 out of 4 college grads out there , that 4th one has landed a job making 6 figures at 25 years. Another reason why American corporations are a joke!
