Supporting American Industry

Published 10/29/07 Economy In Crisis - Print Article

Recently on CNN, John Ratzenberger, better known as Cliff from “Cheers,” discussed his new cause: raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a thriving manufacturing base in America. Ratzenberger is the star of the Travel Channel’s new series “Made in America,” where he travels the country showing the factories, jobs and products that are America’s national treasures.

Ratzenberger is passionate about the issues because he understands that America currently is on a path to economic ruin. Today, we are importing far more than we export, selling our best companies to foreign buyers, and moving our factories and jobs to low-wage countries.

This ‘free trade’ fleecing domestically has resulted in stagnating income for the middle class, rising personal, and national deficits, as well as a manufacturing base that produces more hamburgers and less automobiles.

It is up to every one of us to be like Ratzenberger by raising awareness about the current unsustainable path of the U.S. economy. We must all contact our congressional leaders and demand they support American industry, so that America will no longer have to rely on debts and imports on which it can only temporarily sustain itself.

Many Republicans quietly want to reshape American Democracy. They don't like democracy and want to transform our nation to a plutocracy.

The Party of Satan does not like troublesome voters or respect their unions. The party does not care about workers earning a fair or living wages, worker safety, environmental pollution or pensions.
Their objective is to destroy American while trumpeting patriotism.

Their dream is to remake America and deliver her into the arms of a few billionaires, while the citizens turned "serfs" struggle and squabble to get by on reduced wages, benefits and longer work, and have no political power.

This is why we see:
*Importation of illegal alien workers to destroy unions and steal American's jobs.
*Planned bankruptcy of businesses to shed pension responsibility benefits, and cast off the promise made to workers to the PBGC.

Incidentally businesses such as the airlines have successfully lobbied Congress for years to underpay their dues to the PBGC (Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation) in order to steal from workers and abuse their trust.
Outsourcing is another way of destroying America as is failing to make healthcare and college affordable.

People wake up! Your enemy is the same government that has been short selling your rights and interests down the river to the lowest bidder since the Reagan error began.

Republicans do not care if American made suffers. All they care about it making money and they don't care where it comes from.
